Lydia Kienge, BIPOC virtual psychotherapist serving Ontario (2).png
Lydia Kienge M.A., RP

Hi there!

My name is Lydia Kienge, and I would love to walk with you on this journey

I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, dedicated to providing a confidential and supportive environment where clients can engage in meaningful healing. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Communications from Carleton University and a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, which have equipped me with the knowledge and expertise to deliver effective therapeutic care.

My approach is grounded in trauma-informed, emotionally-focused, anti-oppressive, person-centred, and feminist frameworks, allowing me to offer a comprehensive and inclusive service that addresses the unique needs of each client. I also incorporate creativity, mindfulness, and self-compassion into my practice to empower clients in recognizing their strengths and resilience, while supporting the development of adaptive coping strategies.

What this practice is built on.

Four commitments shape everything about how I work.
Empathy

I understand that seeking therapy can feel vulnerable. That’s why I provide a safe and supportive space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered to create meaningful change in your life.

Trust

Nothing meaningful happens in therapy without trust, and trust is built slowly. I do not expect vulnerability on demand or emotional performance on a schedule. What I offer is consistency, honesty, and the kind of steady attention that lets someone feel free.

Cultural Fluency

I believe everyone deserves to feel heard and understood. That's why I create a safe inclusive space for all of our clients. If you are BIPOC or an immigrant you will not have to translate yourself in this room.

Depth

My work is not built for quick fixes or coping strategies you master in six sessions. It is built for the questions underneath the questions, the family patterns, the identity work, the things you have been carrying since childhood.

If you are BIPOC or an immigrant, you already know the invisible labour of cultural translation. If you are in a partnership that has gone quiet, or intercultural in ways generic couples therapy misses, we can work with that.

If you are a man who feels more than he can say, who has been told his whole life to be strong and figure it out, this practice offers a grounded space to build the language for what is underneath.

What unites my clients is a shared willingness to look beneath their composure and honestly explore their inner lives. They prioritize the process of being deeply understood over the goal of being quickly fixed.
